The G&S Society was founded in 1995, when in response to a newspaper
advertisement, twenty six like minded people came together to produce,
for public performance, the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan. The
Society's aim was to produce each year a different operetta. To-date the
society has produced and performed fifteen (four of them twice) of the
major operettas.
In 1999, the Society became a fully registered association, with the
Valencia authorities. In 2005, the Society celebrated the tenth
anniversary of its foundation.
The
society members hold rehearsals weekly
under the direction of a Musical Director and a show Producer. Whilst
"Gilbert & Sullivan" shows can be called a uniquely British style of
show, they are now produced worldwide, in many languages. The society
also performs an increasing number of items from a variety of other non G & S shows. The society
has mainly UK members, all of whom
enjoy the very active social side to the society as well as the singing and acting.
Our patrons range from many counties, including Germany, France, Norway,
Sweden and of course the U.K.
