Welcome to the Web site of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society in Torrevieja, Spain.     

The G&S Society was founded in 1995, when in response to a newspaper advertisement, twenty six like minded people came together to produce, for public performance, the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan. The Society's aim was to produce each year a different operetta. To-date the society has produced and performed fourteen (four of them twice) of the major operettas. The society has also done 5 concerts of excerpts and numbers from the shows. In 1999, the Society became a fully registered association, with the Valencia authorities. In 2005, the Society celebrated the tenth anniversary of its foundation.

The society members, which now number over 40, hold rehearsals twice weekly under the direction of a Musical Director and a show Producer. Whilst "Gilbert & Sullivan" shows can be called a uniquely British style of show, they are now produced worldwide, in many languages. The society has mainly UK members but also Spanish, Dutch and Irish. All of whom enjoy the social side to the society as well as the singing and acting.
