Bryan Bates |
|
Bryan and his wife Krys moved to Spain from the UK, in January 1995. They both joined the Gilbert and Sullivan Society in 1996, shortly after the society’s initial show “Trial by Jury”. Early in 1997 Bryan was invited to be the society’s Chairman and held the post for 7 years. Bryan now remains at the back, within the chorus, and his wife Krys assists with the cast’s makeup.

Carol Manning |
|
Carol is a founder member of this G&S Society. She played Queen of the Fairies in Iolanthe in 2002 and Dame Carruthers in The Yeomen of the Guard in 2004. She is returning to the torture chamber after playing Inez in The Gondolier in 2003. After starting on the stage at the tender age of 3 she later became a member of the Witham Amateur Operatic Society. She has also appeared in many productions with the Campoverde Theatre Group since 1992.

Christeen Ansell |
|
Over the years, Christeen has played many leading roles with Perth Operatic Society. Her favourites include, Carrie in "Oklahoma", Nellie Forbush in "South Pacific", Ado Annie in "Carousel" and Charity in "Sweet Charity". This is Christeen's sixth production with the G & S Society |

Dallas Myers |
|
Dallas has been singing since the age of four. In the early 1960s she worked for 4 years as a Bluecoat at Pontin’s Holiday Camps on the Isle of Wight and Brixham, Devon. She has been a member of the prestigious Malcolm Sargent Festival Choir. Dallas has performed in a variety of light operettas and musicals for a number of societies in the UK in both principal parts and chorus. She moved to Spain with her husband Jeff, 2 years ago and immediately joined the G&S Society.

David Boardman |
|
David joined the G&S Society in 1998 with NO previous experience of singing or acting. Over time, rehearsing with the society and with the help of the other members, the musical director and stage director, David has found that he has a talent for acting and singing and enjoys doing both. His first principal role was Nanki Poo in “The Mikado” in 1999 and there followed 4 other principal roles as well as singing in the chorus.

Don Woods |
|
Don first joined in 2004 with the production “Yeoman of the Guard” as a member of the chorus. Since then he has been in every production taking principal roles as Fredrick in “Pirates of Penzance”, Nanki-Poo in “Mikado” and in the last show “H.M.S. Pinafore” as Ralph Rackshaw. The G&S Society takes up an important part of both Don’s and his wife Patricia’s lives. Patricia is also a member of the society in the chorus.

Gwyneth Farrer |
|
Developed her love for singing whilst a member of Oldham and then Wigan choral societies in the UK. Upon retiring to Spain the most important thing was to join another singing group, this time the G&S Society. Gwyneth’s first principal part with the group was in 2001 when she played the role of the cheated bride in Trial by Jury. She has since regularly played principal parts within the G&S Society.

Jeanne Walker |
|
Jeanne is celebrating nearly 60 years in amateur Theatre, and has played many leading roles, including Anna in “The King & I”, for which she won an amateur ‘Oscar’. She also had a very successful semi-professional singing career in the UK. Jeanne has lived in Spain for nearly 8 years, in which time she has played many roles for the G&S Society, including Elsie Maynard in “Yeomen of the Guard” and Katisha in “The Mikado”.

John Gardiner |
|
John began on stage after 4 years as a chorister at age of 11, as a boy soprano. He has sung and performed with, and directed amateur opera groups, both Grand and Light. He performed with many choral and dramatic societies throughout England. His G&S roles include all the bass and baritone leads in every one of the Savoy Operas, both stage and concert. John directed stage shows for the G&S Society from the first production in 1996 up to 2005 and has also had a lead singing role in all productions. |

John Wallace |
|
John’s earliest stage appearances were in the Ralph Reader “Gang Shows”, broadcast for the Golders Green Hippodrome. He has played principal parts in most of the G&S operettas plus leading roles in “South Pacific”, “Guys & Dolls”, “Hello Dolly”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Music Man” and many others. He performed at the Buxton G&S Festival, the Royal Festival Hall & Albert Hall and been a member of the Grimsdyke Opera Company.

Judith O'Neill |
|
Judith has been involved in amateur operatics since 1968 and has performed in many shows as chorus, and taken some leading parts and cameo roles. She has also sung with choral societies and two opera societies. Judith has sung the role of Iolanthe in “Iolanthe” and the Duchess in “The Gondoliers”. Her favourite role was Miss Hannigan in “Annie”. This is her first principal role in Spain and is very much looking forward to it.

Norman Shelley |
|
Norman’s main musical experience was in his teens and twenties and included singing in St. Paul’s Cathedral and with massed male voice choirs in the Royal Albert Hall. He was a founder member of a 20 strong male voice group which performed in various parts of the south of England. He developed his ambition to perform in G&S operettas over 40 years ago but achieved it only when he retired to Spain in 2005. This is his 5th appearance with the Society.

Pam Smith |
|
Pam has enjoyed singing since she was a young child. She joined The Leatherhead Operatic Society in 1978 with performances taking place twice a year. In 1999 she performed Fiddler on the Roof for a week with Stage Wright Productions at The Minack Cliff Top Theatre in Cornwall. Pam retired to Spain 7 years ago and joined The Gilbert and Sullivan Society three years ago.

Pam Bowles |
|
Pam has been singing since childhood and has had solo spots in Musicals, Modern and Old Tyme throughout her life. Starting with Southall Operatic Society’s “Die Fledermaus” in 1961, she has been in “The Mikado”, “White Horse Inn”, “Annie get your gun” and “Music Man” with High Wycombe Entertainments Society. Then “Showboat”, “The Sorcerer and “Summer Song” with Chinnor Operatic Society, various pantomimes and more recently in G & S Society’s “The Sorcerer” and “HMS Pinafore”.

Phil Bowles |
|
Phil won a scholarship to Trinity College as a boy Soprano and trained at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama”. He played Alfredo in “Die Fledermaus” in 1961 and Eisenstein 20 years later in Beaconsfield Operatic Society’s production. He was Sutton in the “White Horse Inn” and Pete in “Showboat”. His last major role was as Abe in “Summer Song”, after which he turned Semi-professional as “Phil Anthony” and played the “Club Circuit”. In later life he has been “Dame” in various pantomimes and he joined the G & S Society in 2007.

Trevor Ansell |
|
Trevor sang as a choirboy in St Albans many years ago. He is a relative newcomer to the stage. This is his fifth production with the Gilbert and Sullivan Society and he is enjoying his first ever solo part. Trevor is also the Society’s current Chairman and pitches in whereever he can be of assistance.
